The New York State Trauma Informed Network and Resource Center (NYS TINRC) which is funded by NYS OMH, promotes learning, growing, and the deepening of knowledge. Tending the Roots is coming to you this June & July with a focus on the unique experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community. Learn about trauma, resilience, and self-care in a safe, affirming space.

These sessions are intended specifically for individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. If you are interested in these trainings and do not identify as LGBTQIA+, please reach out to TINRC@ccsi.org for other training opportunities.


The Tending the Roots Training provides foundational knowledge on the effects of toxic stress, trauma, and adversity on health and well-being. In addition, this training explores the interconnectedness of racism and trauma and covers aspects of intersectionality as it relates to disability and other identities.


Learning Objectives
•    Learn about trauma, how common it is, and its effects.
•    Discover the key influences that help people overcome challenges.
•    Develop understanding of how racism can affect a person's mental and physical health over time.
•    Get strategies to support people who have experienced trauma, in a way that works for the long term.
•    Encourage organizations to build the skills and resources they need to continue providing care for people who have experienced trauma.
