The New York State Trauma Informed Network and Resource Center (NYS TINRC) which is funded by NYS OMH, promotes learning, growing, and the deepening of knowledge. It creates and enhances partnerships, builds and supports communities, and furthers the understanding of trauma, trauma-responsive practices, wellness, and well-being.
Breath-Body-Mind™ is a set of gentle exercises that are based on science and designed to help with stress. They can improve your mental health and wellness.
ALL of the BBM Practice sessions, trainings, and opportunities are available to all New Yorkers and are free of charge.
Breath-Body-Mind Level 1 Teacher Training (40 hours)
BBM Level-1 Teacher Training is the first of a three-part training, designed for those wanting to teach BBM practices. Participants learn how to teach the core BBM techniques to promote wellness. Participants who complete all sessions and demonstrate competence in teaching BBM core techniques will receive a Breath-Body-Mind Level-1 Teaching Certification. Those needing additional support can attend weekly practice sessions to work towards certification. Participants who complete all sessions and show competence in core techniques will be expected to apply BBM wellness practices in their communities.
Applicants must have completed:
- 12-hour BBM Fundamentals Course
- 6-week group practice with senior BBM teachers
Trained teachers will:
- Promote BBM practices and keep colleagues informed of BBM practices
- Support organizational change that allows staff to attend free BBM sessions
- Teach BBM practices to individuals/groups
- Participate in trauma-informed and diversity, equity, and inclusion training
- Participate in monthly Learning Community sessions facilitated by TINRC staff to support implementation of BBM practices in their organization and/or community.
Full attendance is essential to gain the necessary teaching skills. If you will miss a session, please notify the instructors promptly. Those who are unable to demonstrate competence by the end of this training will be able to attend additional weekly practice sessions towards certification.
